NSW promises SMEs $20k re-stocking grants if another lockdown occurs

Financial support for small business in the event of future lockdowns: Grants of up to $20,000 to compensate for loss.

The NSW Government has announced financial assistance for small businesses to compensate impacted businesses for loss of perishable stock if a future local lockdown occurs.

Eligible businesses will be able to apply for a grant of up to $20,000 to compensate for loss of perishable stock between 1 December 2021 and 31 January 2022 or claim $10,000 for reduced capacity to sell non-perishable items.

Businesses must have an annual turnover between $75,000 and $50 million to apply.

Earlier this year the NSW Small Business Commissioner recommended the establishment of a fund to provide immediate financial relief for lockdown-affected businesses, noting the potential for future localised and highly restrictive COVID-19 Public Health Orders and their impact on small business.

The Commissioner welcomes today’s announcement by the NSW Government, noting the measure will provide many small businesses with much needed confidence at a time when they are looking to restart their businesses.
