Solar rebates now open for small businesses to reduce bills

Rebates of up to $3,500 are now available for Victorian small businesses to install a rooftop solar system under the Victorian Government’s new Solar for Business Program.

Minister for Solar Homes Lily D’Ambrosio today announced that applications are now open to any Victorian small business with between one and 20 employees, whether they own or rent the premises they operate from.

“We know small businesses have been doing it tough. That’s why we want to encourage small businesses – from cafes to manufacturers and retail – to get solar panels and save hundreds of dollars a year on their bills,” said Minister for Solar Homes Lily D’Ambrosio.

“By putting solar panels on businesses across Victoria, we are creating more than 200 jobs in the solar industry.”

The program will also create more than 200 jobs in the solar industry, as panels are installed on the rooftops of small businesses across Victoria.

The Solar for Business Program will support the economic recovery of Victorian small businesses and the broader solar sector by delivering 15,000 solar PV rebates over the next three years.

The rebates will be available for solar PV systems with a capacity up to 30kW that are included in Solar Victoria’s approved product list and delivered by authorised solar retailers and installers.

The initiative will bring down energy bills for small businesses by reducing the upfront cost of the installation whilst providing a lasting benefit throughout the life of the systems installed.

Supporting the installation of renewable energy will provide an immediate benefit of reduced energy costs from day one, with participating businesses potentially saving hundreds of dollars on their annual energy bills.

The Solar for Business Program will run alongside the Labor Government’s $1.3 billion Solar Homes Program.

Since its launch in 2018, the Solar Homes Program has provided more than $270 million in rebates to help Victorian households install solar panels, batteries and solar hot water, driving down energy prices and contributing to Victoria’s renewable energy transformation.
