Small business grants extended to Oct in Tasmania

We know small businesses are the lifeblood of the community, which is why we’re continuing to support them as we recover and rebuild from the coronavirus pandemic.

I am pleased to announce we are extending Round Two of the Small Business Continuity Grant Program for a further four weeks.

As of Friday September 4, 447 grants had been allocated as part of the $2 million program, leaving funding available to support a further 2219 applications. The program was due to close at midday today, but it will now remain open until October 2, or when available funding has been allocated – whichever is first.

Importantly, these grants will continue to provide support to Tasmanian small businesses to engage the services of a qualified specialist or consultant to advise on continuity planning or provide financial advice to help inform decisions and to assist with business recovery, as they work through the challenges of COVID-19.

This program follows on from Round One, which saw 2080 grants being awarded, providing close to $1.9 million in support to Tasmanian small businesses to access specialist advice on continuity planning. Feedback from successful Round One recipients showed the support was invaluable in helping them plan for the future.

I strongly encourage any small business that has not already received funding under this program to visit the Business Tasmania website (www.business.tas.gov.au), or call 1800 440 026 for more information.
