Experts acknowledge cybersecurity as a growing threat to small business

Richard Clarke, National Coordinator, Counter-terrorism, USA Govt.

“If you spend more on coffee than on IT security, you will be hacked. What’s more, you deserve to be hacked”

Stephane Nappo, Global Head Information Security for Société Générale International Banking

“It takes 20 years to build a reputation and few minutes of cyber-incident to ruin it.”

I think computer viruses should count as life. I think it says something about human nature that the only form of life we have created so far is purely destructive.

Tim Cook, CEO, Apple

“Criminals are using every technology tool at their disposal to hack into people’s accounts. If they know there’s a key hidden somewhere, they won’t stop until they find it.”

Malcolm Turnbull

“The stronger your cybersecurity industry is in Australia, the better your cybersecurity will be.”

Abigail Bradshaw, Head of the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC)

“As we shifted online to go school work or work from home or buy things, or keep communicating, the criminals have also shifted and really prosecuted our online lives to make money or steal our information.”

Shannon Sedgwick, Senior Managing Director, Ankura Consulting Group

“The damage caused by a breach to an SME cannot be understated, with 80% of SMEs that suffer a breach going bankrupt within 12 months.”

Paul Nielsen, COSBOA’s Cyber Security Ambassador

“A Cyber Security protection plan for SME’s is imperative if business owners want to survive and thrive in today’s digital world.”

Senator Eric Abetz MP

“With a cyber-attack on an Australian business every 10 minutes and with a total economic hit estimated at $29 billion per year, there is a need to ensure our cyber security readiness is at its very best.”

Hon Peter Dutton MP, Minister for Home Affairs

“We can’t sit by while a marketplace exists for sophisticated cybercrime tools to be used against Australians.”
