Financial support for those who can’t work due to COVID: Payments still available if you can’t earn an income because of isolation or a positive test
Weekly payments are still available to individuals, including business owners and operators, who can’t earn an income because they are COVID positive or are ordered to isolate by authorities.
The Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment helps those who can’t earn an income because they have been directed by a State health official (or approved contact tracer) to self-isolate or quarantine, and they don’t have access to any special paid leave.
The individual either has to have been diagnosed with COVID-19, been identified as a close contact or has to care for someone (such as a child or someone with a disability) who has COVID-19 or is an identified close contact. The payment rate is $750 per seven-day period of isolation/quarantine. The payment is not available to those who can work from home.
Recipients are required to reapply for the payment if they have to self-isolate for longer than seven days.
Individuals can also apply for the NSW Government’s $320 Test and Isolate Support Payment if they are required to get a COVID test and isolate until they receive a negative result.
