With reports highlighting Australia will fall short of its 1.2 million new homes target, new data has revealed that a ‘shortage of tradies’ might not be the only contributing factor.
Research from Australia’s largest online tradie marketplace, hipages has shown hard-working tradies are drowning in excessive admin and bookwork which is preventing them from taking on new jobs.

Two-thirds (66%) of tradies have lost work due to the amount of time they spend on admin

Three-quarters of tradies (74%) spend up to five hours per project on admin tasks alone, which is equivalent to $500 of labour

The top three most time-consuming admin activities include quoting (77%), scheduling and diary management (69%), and invoicing (61%)
